Professor HUNG Se Fong
Biography
Prof. SF Hung is a dedicated researcher and child psychiatrist devoted to child mental health in Hong Kong for over 40 years. He held leading post in the Hospital Authority’s child mental health service and was the former president of the Hong Kong College of Psychiatrists before taking up the honorary professorship at Department of Psychiatry, The Chinese University of Hong Kong. He collaborates with the government to lead a team of clinician-scientists in this pioneering study, setting the visionary road map to define the prevalence and important risk/ protective factors for children and adolescents aged from 6-17 years representative of the whole of Hong Kong. Prof. Hung believes in mental health for all and it matters to start building psychological resilience in early stage of life. The simple reason that makes him take the lead in this historical first territory-wide epidemiological study of child and adolescent mental health in Hong Kong is that, “good health care policies should be founded upon good science”.
