Sleep and Lifestyle Pattern
Sleep is important to both mental and physical health as well as cognitive development in children and adolescents. Sleep problems are common in children and adolescents with a prevalence of 4-10%1. Puberty is a particularly significant period for the development of sleep disorders. Sleep problems are risk factors for both poor mental and physical health2.
Combination of ESM with actigraphy in mobile device will allow us to map the type and level of activity of the youths in the flow of daily life. Actigraphy is an objective method of assessing sleep and circadian rhythm, as well as physical activity, using an electronic device, actigraph. It is a non-invasive tool that consecutively measures sleep quality and quantity across several days. Experience Sampling Methodology (ESM), available in smartphone app, is a structured diary in daily living environment3,4,5, which captures subjective experiences in the moment without relying on recall. “The small moments count!
